Canada, gives an in-depth discussion with Father James on the levels of prayer in our Orthodox Life. Irene Matta, MTh, gives a quick outline of these Awakenings and movements, along with their fruition in our own Churches today. There is special attention given to Word-Faith aberrations birthed in Mary Baker Eddy's Christian Science movement in Boston and revived in the 1950's by Hagin, Copeland and later Fred Price.

Christianity in the New World: Americans treasure two qualities, independence and individualism, which have enabled our people to be resourceful in founding our nation. These traits however, can keep Americans from participating in Christ's Body of believers in the Holy Orthodox Faith, by a denial of proper Bishops in place over parishes and congregations. Christ gave us His Apostles as His way of governing as the first overseers, or Bishops, and they, in turn, set apart trusted elders (I Tim 2:15) to pass down to the Faithful the Gospel of Christ which frees us from error and the snares of our enemy, Satan. This work is highly recommended. The Soul, the Body, and Death is an important response by Archbishop Lazar to the late Seraphim Rose's Gnostic work, The Soul After Death. Archbishop Lazar refutes, using the writings of the Fathers of our Faith, Rose's contention that there are "toll-houses" after death to purify the soul. Rose's Gnostic teaching originates in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and is not related to any Orthodox Christian teaching.

Discussion of the Eighth Ecumenical Council: St. Photios, the last council in which the Western Pope and Eastern patriarch were together in condemning the additions to the Nicene Creed by the Frankish Church. NEW VIDEO: EASTER MEANS ISHTAR: The Shadow of Ishtar

Orthodox Christians, celebrating Christ our God's fulfillment of Old Israel's redemption from Death in Passover, rejoices in Christ's Passover from Death to Life (in the flesh)! The Ancient Orthodox Church continues to call the Resurrection Day, PASCHA from the Hebrew Pesach, or Passover. Only in the western churches is Easter used for the day of Christ's Resurrection. Why is has this term Easter taken over in the west, since it is so evidently referring to Ishtar the fertility goddess who exists with many names in the middle eastern religions? Most western Christians have no idea of the counterfeit that they announce each time they use the word Easter. We pray that all who name the Name of Christ will learn that His Resurrection takes place as He implodes Hades, leading the Old Testament saints into Paradise. The satanic mythology of Goddess Ishtar's descent into the underworld is the Babylonian counterfeit for the Life-Changing Descent of Christ into Hades to rescue our first parents, and raise our humanity with them. He routed Satan, imploded Hades, loosed "the prisoners" (I Pet. 3:19ff) and opened Paradise to all who trust the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation and forgiveness of sins. UFO phenomena, Native American worship, and astrology all reveal the presence and continuance of the babylonian religion in our own times, which must be decried by everyone who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and obeys Him. Yahweh God, the Pre-Incarnate Christ, had very good reason for warning His people against this religion as they came into Canaan land. We need to cleanse our lives of any of these demonic incursions with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and our witness of His salvation to others.

CHRIST'S TRIUMPHANT DESCENT INTO HADES: service read Friday evening (Saturday Matins)

From the Gospel of Nicodemos, based on the Scriptural references to Christ's entrance into Hades to rout Satan, defeat Death itself, and rescue Adam, Eve and the OT saints who had believed in the Promise of His coming (Heb 11). I Pet. 3: 18ff refers to His preaching to those in prison, and Isaiah prophesied the Those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of Death have seen a Great Light!: the Light of the Glory of His Resurrection. Our hymns teach us: "In the grave bodily, in Hades with the Soul, thought Thou art God, in Paradise with the thief, on the Throne with the Father and the Holy Spirit art Thou Who fillest all things, O Christ the Ineffable!"

This central teaching of the Resurrection and our salvation from Death and bondage to Satan in the fear of Death that he puts upon us, is missing in the western churches. The papal church lost much of the Gospel of Christ as the political forces of the Frankish empire conquered the Orthodox peoples in Europe (the Romans). Protestants had no teaching therefore, having drawn their doctrines from Augustine and other heretical sources. Calvin teaches the Gnostic blasphemy that Christ went to firey Hell (not Hades) to suffer in our place, since His bodily suffering was of no avail. Calvin, like the Gnostics before him, believe that only "spiritual suffering" counts for salvation, since the body is inherently evil in this pagan heresy (see Acts 8 and Simon Magus who founded this heresy by offering satanic magic and paganism masked as supposed spiritual power). Orthodox Icons of the Resurrection portray the absolute and utter Defeat of Satan's power, and Death by Christ's "trampling down Death by Death" - the healing of mortality in our members present because of Ancestral Sin (see Dr. Romanides "Ancestral Sin" for the Scriptural teaching on Adam's Fall and our redemption in Christ).
